Coach Mick has been coaching in the San Diego community for 29 years. He has worked with novice to elite athletes in events ranging from 100 meters to 100 miles. He brings a wealth of knowledge, but is most adept at conveying this knowledge in accessible ways.
While most recently coaching at UC San Diego for the Track and Field team he has helped lead athletes to both the US Olympic Trials as well as the Olympic Games themselves. During this time he has also been coaching distance runners in the local community. These runners have been focused anywhere from finishing their first race to trying to qualify for the Boston Marathon. He brings a passion for process, a keen eye on patience, and a joy in personal growth.
For runners who are looking for more personalized training programs, he offers that as well, and can be reached at runcoach.mick@gmail.com for questions.
Dylan got his start coaching while working with the Idaho State University Track & Cross Country programs. After a couple years of helping the program grow and working with distance event specific groups, he returned to Southern Utah University to continue his collegiate coaching career. Following a few successful seasons of learning alongside top NCAA coaches he returned home to San Diego and focused on his own personal running and training. While self-coaching and tapping into the wisdom of local distance running legends, he reached personal bests in the marathon of 2:16 & 1:03 in the half marathon. Alongside the success in his own running he has spent the past few years building his coaching experience while working with athletes in a remote coaching space. He has worked with athletes that are simply looking to complete new distances; all the way through athletes competing on the national stage. Coach Dylan loves the balance that a good training block takes; there needs to be a mix of hard work, consistency, and lots of fun!
